1st Year Light Fabrication Apprentice

Hunternet Group Training in partnership with Hedweld Engineering are seeking a dedicated individual to join their team at Mt Thorley as a Light Fabrication Apprentice. 

Hedweld have established themselves as world leaders in the engineering, manufacture and export of high-quality outputs specifically designed to improve productivity, safety and efficiency in various industries.

This apprenticeship will allow the successful applicant to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Light Fabrication while gaining on-the-job experience with a reputable company.

The duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

Production:

  • Assists Tradespeople with the analysing of work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
  • Cost effectively performs general fabrication, machining, assembly and minimal repair work in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all work performed is to specification and while a high-quality standard.
  • Comply with company systems requirements such as time sheets and work schedules.
  • Be pro-active in advising Trades and Leading hands of issues affecting this position.
  • Effectively liaise with other staff to ensure all related operations functions smoothly.
  • Ensures housekeeping is of a high standard.
  • Keeps tools and machinery effectively maintained.
  • Be responsible for the security of tools and equipment associated with the function.
  • Ensure quality assurance is to company standard.
  • High level of customer service.

Human Resources and WH&S:

  • Maintain a positive team atmosphere and establish a good working relationship with all other staff members.
  • Liaise with supervisor(s) and staff to ensure tasks are completed within cost, on time and to acceptable standard.
  • Participate in any further education and upgrading of skills required for oneself and other team members through any courses that relate to your/their responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in any team meetings relating to the operation and produce accurate information pertaining to the meeting.
  • Ensuring that as an apprentice you seek and receive appropriate instruction, training, development and supervision.
  • Upholds the organisation’s commitment to Work, Health and Safety.
  • Contributes in achieving ongoing improvements to organisational safety, communication and morale.
  • Adheres to company policies and undertakes safe working practices and procedures.
  • Abide by safe handling practices when handling and administering chemical or hazardous products.
  • Ensuring the use of supplied PPE with oneself, team members, other employees, visitors and contractors. For example: Helmets, glasses, goggles, gloves, boots, Hi-Vis clothing, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with state, federal and other government, legislative and regulatory requirements.

Essential Criteria:

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work effectively both as part of a team or autonomously

Desirable Criteria:

  • Sound mathematical apptitude 
  • Basic Pre-Welding course
  • Respect of self and others
